NASA’s Technology Transfer University (T2U) program provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to work with NASA-developed technology. As part of our T2U Innovation Series, instructors share firsthand experiences with other educators and individuals who are interested in using NASA technology for educational purposes. In our upcoming webinar, we are excited to feature Gregory Mihalik, a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Institute of Technology. Since joining the T2U program, he has incorporated NASA technology into the classroom.

Presenter: Gregory Mihalik

Mr. Mihalik is a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Institute of Technology and teaches Technology Entrepreneurship in the College of Engineering, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His course teaches evidence-based entrepreneurship skills and principles, benefiting students who are launching a business or pursuing careers in technology and innovation-driven companies. The course is designed to be an experiential, team project-based program that educates and develops future engineers and entrepreneurs through discovery and “real-world” experiences. 

Mr. Mihalik coaches and mentors student start-ups. During the summer, he is a CREATE-X coach. CREATE-X is a Georgia Tech initiative to instill entrepreneurial confidence in students and empower them to launch successful startups. The CREATE-X LAUNCH element consists of a program for students and alumni who want to launch their projects from idea stage (or beyond) into fully functioning and viable startups. Through LAUNCH, Startup Launch provides teams with $5,000 in seed funding and $30,000 worth of in-kind services, including legal and accounting services, coaching, space, mentorship, visibility, and IP protection.

Mr. Mihalik has over 30 years of technology and professional experience and spent 3 years living and working in Asia.  He’s held positions with SolarCity/Tesla, Proctor & Gamble, Siemens Solar, Shell Solar, SunPower, Suniva, Milliken & Company, SolarWorld, Millennium Mats, and EG&G Energy Measurements.

Mr. Mihalik has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Yale University and a M.B.A. in Management Sciences from Golden Gate University.
